The Challenge

Torque values are not recorded per bolt group

AISC requires documented verification of bolt tension. Paper records show torqued per spec for the whole floor instead of specific values per connection.

Wrench calibration lapses go unnoticed

Torque wrenches require regular calibration. Without tracking, crews use uncalibrated tools. Every bolt installed with an uncalibrated wrench needs re-inspection.

Inspection pattern is undocumented

AISC requires specific inspection patterns for different bolt installation methods. Paper records do not show which bolts in the group were tested.

Re-inspection tracking does not exist

Failed bolt group needs re-torquing and re-inspection. Paper forms cannot track which groups need re-work and whether the re-inspection was completed.

The POD Solution Path

1

Voice-log torque inspections

Iron worker speaks the connection ID, bolt count, torque value, and installation method. POD records the inspection per AISC requirements.

Per-connection records
2

Calibration management

Every torque wrench registered with calibration date and expiration. POD blocks inspection logging if the tool is past due for calibration.

3

Pattern documentation

Record which specific bolts were inspected in each group. Document the inspection pattern against AISC requirements.

AISC-compliant patterns
4

Re-inspection tracking

Failed connections flagged automatically. Track re-torquing and re-inspection through completion. Nothing falls through the cracks.

Structural Connection Intelligence

Bolt Group Registry

Every connection tracked with bolt count, torque values, installation method, and inspection status.

Tool Calibration

Torque wrench calibration tracking with expiration alerts and automatic usage blocking.

Completion Tracking

See bolt inspection progress by floor, area, and connection type. Know your completion percentage in real time.

“Special inspector rejected our bolt inspection records because we could not prove wrench calibration was current. 2-week delay to re-inspect 4,000 bolts. POD tracks calibration automatically.”
