The two most expensive numbers offshore

A chartered installation vessel bills six figures a day whether it works or waits on weather. A generic tool records "no work — sea state" and calls the day blank. Offshore, the report has to prove what the window allowed, vessel by vessel, the day it happened.

What an offshore day has to carry

Weather windows

When the sea state opened, when it closed, and the significant wave height at cutoff. Every other line on the report reads against it.

Vessel-days

Each SOV, jack-up, CTV, and cable-lay vessel — working, mobilizing, or waiting on weather. A vessel on standby still bills six figures.

Marine installs

Monopiles and transition pieces set, nacelles and blades lifted, inter-array and export cable-lay metres — the work that only happens in the window.

Crew transfers

Personnel on and off the turbines, gangway hours, and any transfer aborted on sea state. Offshore safety starts at the gangway.

Sets monopiles, transition pieces, towers, nacelles, and blades. The most expensive day on the water.

SOV

Houses and moves the crew offshore for weeks at a time. Gangway hours drive productivity.

CTV

Cable-lay

Inter-array and export cable metres per shift, pull-ins terminated. The link back to shore.
