An offshore repower is two campaigns at sea, and a greenfield report sees one

The old turbines come down before the new ones go up — on the same monopiles, the same array cables, the same export tie. A new-build offshore template captures the install and drops the rest: the removals craned onto the vessel, the components shipped to shore for salvage, the monopiles reused or re-fitted, and the vessel-days burned on both halves. POD reports the demolition and the re-install on one record, the day each moves.

What an offshore repower day has to carry

Removals at sea

De-energizing, blade and nacelle removal, and tower sectioning offshore — with everything craned onto a vessel, not lowered to a laydown yard. The demolition half a greenfield report never sees.

Vessels & weather windows

A jack-up or heavy-lift vessel meters both halves in vessel-days, and every lift lives or dies on the met-ocean window. When the window opened, when it closed, and the vessel time spent on each.

Reused monopile & interconnection

The monopile, the array cables, and the export tie stay — the most expensive offshore scope, kept. Which foundations are reused as-is, which need a transition-piece modification for a larger turbine.

Re-install & re-energize

A taller turbine set on the same monopile, terminated, and re-energized within the window. Components shipped to shore for salvage or recycling, and the capacity uplift the whole campaign is measured by.
