What a repower day has to carry
Removals & teardown
Blades down, nacelle down, tower sections down. The dismantling of an energized-history turbine is the most hazardous day on the site — and the half a greenfield report never sees.
Salvage & recycling
Steel towers, gearboxes, and copper recycled; blades diverted where they can be. What was removed, where it went, and the tonnes kept out of landfill — on the record for the owner and the tax credit.
Reused foundation & interconnection
The pad and the grid tie stay — the whole reason to repower. Which foundations are reused as-is, which need modification for a taller machine, and where the interconnection stands.
Re-erection & re-energize
A taller turbine goes up on the same base — bigger crane picks, an outage window to hold, and first rotation. Capacity uplift is the number the whole job is measured by.
Old down, taller up, same pad
The Gen-1 turbine dismantles — blades down, tower down — and a taller machine rises on the same reused foundation, its rotor turning up as the last of the old one comes off.
