Solar + StorageDispatchon the Record

Two assets, one interconnection, one PCS. The battery earns its keep by soaking up the solar the grid would have curtailed — but only if the plant dispatches it and the report proves it. POD puts the co-located operating day on the record, spoken from the site.

One plant, two assets, one number that matters

Co-located is not a solar farm next to a battery. It is one interconnection, one shared PCS, and a daily decision: export the solar, or store it because the grid is curtailing. The battery only pays for itself if it recovers the energy the grid would have thrown away — and a solar-only or battery-only report can not even see the trade. The O&M report is the record of what dispatched, what recovered, and what the shared PCS allowed.

What an O&M report captures

A solar-only or battery-only log holds none of the co-located story. A hybrid O&M report has to.

Co-located dispatch

How much the plant put on the grid and how the PCS split solar between export and charging — the shared decision two separate reports miss.

Curtailment recovery

The energy the grid curtailed and the share the battery soaked up — the entire economic case for pairing storage with solar.

PCS & conversion

The shared power-conversion system — faults, derates, and the efficiency losses that hit both the solar and the battery path.

Combined availability

Solar available, battery available, and the interconnection limit you dispatched against — the plant number, not two asset numbers.

SOC & thermal

State of charge through the day and the thermal margin the battery held while cycling on recovered solar.

Safety & energized work

DC arc-flash on both the array and the battery, LOTO, and permit-to-work — logged against the block or enclosure and the crew.

The grid curtails. The PCS diverts. The battery recovers.

Solar feeds the shared PCS; when the grid curtails, the PCS diverts the surplus into the battery instead of throwing it away, and the dispatch meter reads what went to the grid, what charged, and how much curtailed energy was recovered.

What the day becomes on the dashboard

Two questions an operator asks first: is the combined plant healthy, and are PCS or curtailment risks biting.

Illustrative operating data. POD builds these from the O&M report you file — the metrics your plant actually captures.

The systems POD tracks across the hybrid plant

Two assets and the shared points where they meet the grid.

Solar array

The generation side — yield, soiling, and the strings feeding the shared PCS.

Shared PCS

Where solar and battery meet the grid — the single point that caps dispatch and recovery.

Battery

The storage side — SOC, SOH, and the cycles it runs recovering curtailed solar.

Interconnection

The point of interconnection and its limit — the ceiling every dispatch decision runs into.

What two separate logs silently drop

A generic CMMS captures the work order. Co-located O&M needs the shared dispatch around it.

Co-located O&M reporting questions

A solar-plus-storage O&M report is the daily operating record of a running co-located plant: combined availability, how much the PCS dispatched to the grid, how much curtailed energy the battery recovered, PCS and interconnection faults, and the state of charge and thermal margin. It is the record an asset manager and an offtaker read.
