Follow the money from cost to cash.
Eight numbers from one job. Out come incurred cost, earned revenue, CPI and the forecast finish, and a straight answer on whether you are over- or under-billed. Change any input and the whole chain moves.
Construction money runs in a chain, and each link is one formula:
| Link | Formula |
|---|---|
| Incurred cost | Paid + accounts payable + accruals |
| Earned value | Physical % complete x budget at completion |
| Earned revenue | Physical % complete x contract value |
| CPI, then EAC | EV / AC, then BAC / CPI |
| WIP position | Earned revenue minus billed to date |
Your job
Estimate to complete $4,500,000 still to spend. Cost-to-cost progress would read 52.9%.

The two indices behind the forecast. On a live project POD derives them from progress your team has confirmed, not from the spend ratio.

This page computes one job from eight typed figures. POD takes the pay applications, budget, and confirmed progress your projects already produce, keeps committed cost apart from actual cost, carries retainage and every approved client change, and re-reads earned value, CPI, and the estimate at completion as each file lands, so a billing drifting away from earned progress is flagged the week it happens.
Questions & answers
From eight inputs it builds incurred cost (paid plus accounts payable plus accruals), shows physical percent complete beside the cost-to-cost ratio, converts progress into earned value against the budget and earned revenue against the contract, derives CPI, SPI, the estimate at completion and the variance at completion, and sets earned revenue against billed-to-date to tell you whether the job is over- or under-billed.
Method & sources
Incurred cost follows the accrual-basis identity used in construction cost accounting: paid plus approved-unpaid plus accrued-not-invoiced. Earned value and earned revenue both apply physical percent complete, to the cost budget and the contract value respectively; the cost-to-cost ratio is shown alongside for comparison because it is the usual basis for percentage-of-completion revenue recognition. CPI, SPI, EAC (BAC / CPI), ETC, and VAC follow standard earned value management. The WIP position is earned revenue minus billed-to-date, with a negative result presented as a contract liability and a positive one as a contract asset, matching the balance-sheet treatment of over- and under-billings.
